Debra Kay Anderson (Producer) is the founder of Noosphere Productions and the middle daughter of Col. Robert D. Anderson (MIA-KIA, October 6, 1972). Vietnam: A Daughter's Journey is a personal project that began when the MIA issue came to the forefront after the Vietnam war ended and her father remained unaccounted for. The many unanswered questions surrounding our U.S. servicemen was a source of contention for many sons and daughters, who lost their fathers to the war. Debra went on a spiritual journey to her father's crash site with Nikki Graham, daughter of Capt. Allen U. Graham (MIA-KIA, October 17, 1972), on the forty-year anniversary of their fathers being shot down over North Vietnam. Their names reside two lines apart on The Wall.
Noosphere Productions was founded while Debra was working as Post-Production Coordinator at Ryder Sound Services (Academy Award, Best Sound, Platoon; Emmy, Unnatural Causes). Prior to working in film, Debra was a commercial producer, director, and writer, as well as DP and Editor, for an independent television station, where she honed her technical skills. Debra is also a successful actress and had the opportunity to work with Sanford Meisner in the early 1990s when film and theatre projects on global humanity came to the forefront. She worked alongside Sydney Pollack, Mark Rydell, and Gregory Peck to present the ACE Award to Mr. Meisner acknowledging his contribution to the theatre world. After his passing, she co-founded The Workshop at the Neighborhood Playhouse in honor of her mentor, which fostered new work and established a current model for play development. During this time she worked closely with Michael Warren Powell, Artistic Director of the Circle Rep Lab, which eventually became Circle East.
Debra is currently a Member Artist of New Circle Theatre Company, a company dedicated to carrying on the Circle Rep legacy, which is mentored by its Artistic Director, Marshall W. Mason. She has also worked with New York Women in Film and Television (NYWIFT) and was a founding member of The Moon Lab, formed while working with Curt Dempster, former Artistic Director of Ensemble Studio Theatre. She has forged collaborations with notable film, theatre, and contemporary artists worldwide, furthering her mission to bring socially conscious issues to the forefront. Other projects in development include a retrospective documentary on Circle Rep titled Full Circle and an Outreach Program for at-risk youths. Debra is based in NYC with offices in Los Angeles and throughout the Southeast. Her mentors include Sanford Meisner, Sydney Pollack, Michael Warren Powell, and Curt Dempster.
